Welcome to the M-Bar-M Ranch website. Thank you in advance for your interest in our IBBA registered Red Brangus cattle herd. After a large amount of research, our family has come to the conclusion that Brangus is the breed for Texas climate and conditions. They shed enough hair to thrive in the hot and humid conditions and they’re able to grow a thick enough winter coat to handle the cold. Brangus combine the abilities to take care of themselves, disease resistance and the protective maternal ability of the Brahman with the beef quality, fertility, gentle disposition and milking ability of the Angus. These qualities produce a cow that can take care of itself out in West Texas, an environment better suited for goats, but can also consistently produce quality show cows in Central or East Texas with minimal effort.
When choosing between Red or Black Brangus, our ranch opted for both. Currently, Black Brangus have a distinct advantage in numbers, demand and EPDs. However, research shows that Red Brangus have a 1 to 4% long term advantage in efficiency due strictly to the lighter color. Our goal at M-Bar-M Ranch is to take that small efficiency advantage that the Red Brangus has and combine it with the overall domination of the Brangus EPDs, allowing our ranch to end up with a quality Red Brangus with EPDs competitive to Black Brangus.
